First Night Fun

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

It was so great to have a big crowd on the third floor of Summit Artspace during First Night Akron – and it was especially great to have so many visitors to my studio! Everyone was in a really good mood. I love it when there’s live music and so much action going on in our building. The next time we’re open will be opening receptions for shows in the first floor and third floor gatherings on Friday, January 20 (free, from 5-8). Yeah! Another fun night to look forward to!

First Night Akron: More fun for families

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

First Night Akron celebrated its 15th anniversary yesterday. I was on the marketing committee for the very first one back in 1996 and although I attended it, I didn’t enjoy myself (the people I went there with) and so I never had an interest in going back. But this year because Summit ArtSpace was one of the First Night venues, they wanted the artists who have studios there to be open. So there I was. My husband took the kids and they had a ball spending four hours doing crafts and such at four different venues before watching the first fireworks show at 9. Although some friends stopped by to say hi and I met some nice people, I didn’t have so much fun.  I did enjoy hearing the entertainment going on outside my studio door and seeing the people all dressed up and ready to welcome the new year in style.
